"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

Indeed. I'm currently reading an interesting scifibook about a virtual utopia world. The next short story I think I'm going to write will actually be something more cyberpunk-ish - I wonder how golems fit in that setting.
Depends on your definition of a golem. It works on magic or some mystery like that, unlike robots. In a traditional Rebels-versus-Corporations cyberpunkish setting golems could be made by rebels, who lack robot-making equipment but have found some mysterious artifacts or mutated to acquire supernatural garbage-animating abilities
